10:35-11:00 Paper and Packaging Board’s Industry Promotion Campaign on Track to Launch This Summer (Mary Anne Hansan, Executive Director, Paper and Packaging Board)
“Beef. It’s What’s for Dinner.® Cotton the Fabric of Our Lives.®” These are advertising slogans from industry-supported promotion campaigns. The Paper and Packaging Board (P+PB) is introducing the paper and packaging industry’s new campaign in July. Mary Anne Hansan will share the campaign creative and the media, PR and social outreach plans.
11:00-11:25 Ensuring Consumer Choice for Paper-based Communications (John Runyan, Executive Director, Consumers for Paper Options)
John will provide an overview of Consumers for Paper Options, an advocacy group that works with industry, non-profit groups, and private citizens to ensure that paper-based information and services remain available from government for those citizens who want or need them. CPO has been involved in several high profile efforts before Congress and federal agencies on this subject over the last year and will update the group on its efforts.
11:25-11:50 Reading in Print or Reading on Screen – What do Consumers Prefer? (Phil Riebel, President, Two Sides North America)
Phil will give an overview of Two Sides North America activities over the past year, including the success Two Sides has had in challenging and removing anti-paper environmental claims (i.e. go green – go paperless, save trees) from the marketing materials of over 30 major corporations (ex: AT&T, Sprint, Citibank, HSBC, Wells Fargo, etc.). The results of a Two Sides study “Reading from Paper or Reading from Screens. What do Consumers Prefer?” will be presented showing a clear preference by U.S. consumers when it comes to reading in print.
